Crossover Frequency

The handoff point where the subwoofer takes over from the speakers — 80Hz is the convention.

The crossover frequency is where bass management routes low frequencies to the sub instead of the speakers. 80Hz is the conventional starting point: low enough that the sub stays hard to localize, high enough to unload small woofers. Small satellites often need 100–120Hz. Start at 80Hz, then adjust by ear — it is a starting point, not a law of physics.
